RedBedlam, developer of the historically authentic massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Roma Victor has announced a partnership with Ukash, the cash-based online pre-payment company.

Ukash works like mobile phone pre-paid electronic top-ups and enables consumers to effectively pre-pay for online purchases using cash. The Ukash payment platform is the brainchild of Scott Thompson, the man behind the groundbreaking launch of the Switch Payment Card in the UK.

Roma Victor players will be able to use Ukash to buy the in-game virtual currency (Sesterces), which will allow players to improve their characters and enhance their gaming experience. Roma Victor allows players to immerse themselves in a historically accurate virtual recreation of Roman Europe populated by thousands of other online gamers.

Ukash is simple to use, and Ukash vouchers are available in over 120,000 stores across Europe. The company has plans to make Ukash available in 12 countries by the end of 2006. As simple to use as mobile top-ups, customers can exchange cash for a Ukash voucher and then spend the value online in an identical way to existing credit card holders.
