Horizons: Empire of Istaria Peek #7 on RPG Vault (http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/719/719330p1.html)
The other discussion in which I found myself learning a lot took place when I went to visit Tulga at the beginning of July. Over lunch, Amon, David Bowman and I were talking about how long it took to do the quest initially, how the changes made it more player friendly, and why a player might feel rewarded for doing such a quest. We had a long talk about different types of quest rewards, from monetary / experience to simply having experienced a new story, and how these types of rewards effected the ending of The Wedding Quest. Taking that information back and talking to Peter about it, I think we both learned what it means to develop a rewarding quest. I am personally the sort of player who will do every quest I can find simply for the experience of the story behind it. But with Peter and David Roudebush, I've learned that even if the story is fun and interesting, it won't be enough for most players to feel rewarded for their time in the game. As he's learned to write quests, we've had to take Peter from being an excellent storyteller to a role-playing gamer.
