Horizons: Empire of Istaria Peek #8 on RPG Vault (http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/719/719647p1.html)
When we first discussed the possibility of bringing a known author in to write quests for Horizons, we - the design team - were both excited and nervous. We were excited to have the opportunity to work with a well-known author and at the potential stories we envisioned he could bring. But we were nervous because we were all too aware of the extreme learning curve, not just to learn Horizons as an MMO or video game, but to learn how content, and quests in particular, are created within our system. One of the most difficult things for new developers to learn is what our system is capable of and how best to achieve those goals. Learning these concepts remotely and trying to write a large and complex quest from the start could be a very daunting and perilous task.
