The Chronicles of Spellborn Update Interview on RPG Vault (http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/725/725596p1.html)
One of the few things that we decided to postpone until after release is Shard Conquest. The basic idea was to have the five High Houses fight over ownership of Shards, which will yield economical benefits. Although we were very happy with the way the combat and capture points for this system worked out, we didn't find a fitting way to make it work story-wise. What would happen after a Shard is conquered, and how can the impact on the economy be restored? These are questions that led us to believe another system is needed that would make the skirmishing between the High Houses a more tangible part of the gameplay.
Plans for this new system are well underway, and we expect to have this system in place shortly after launch including the first conquest Shard, Carnyx.
